LOCATIONS
We would like to introduce the 4 wonderful locations used for this year's Boundaries edition!
These four locations perfectly compliment all of the artists' ideas and methods, creating the most comfortable ideal performance environments.
POPRECS is Sunderland’s beloved nonprofit community venue which nurtures collaboration and connection, making it a hotbed for innovative performances, while supporting all local folks with a ridiculous brilliant sound system.
Poprecs is our venue for the opening Friday night and should be a proper highlight!!
THE MINSTER is a charming and historic location, that drips with character. The large space is perfect for performances with scope, space and deep dynamics.
THE PEACOCK has been with us right from the beginning! This superb wide room boasts a brilliant sound system and a space full of acoustic goodness!
THE DUN COW is one of Sunderland's oldest pubs, this location offers an intimate space where audiences can really connect with the performers, while artist's with a more intimate, delicate, tangible style can be heard and experienced in all their glory. This is the smallest location, so we advise you to arrive early to guarantee a place. Once we hit capacity we will operate a 1 in 1 out system.
We can't wait for you to see these brilliant venues and fill them all up.
Due to the historic nature of The Peacock and The Dun Cow locations access is very limited with only stairs available as entrance for both. We are truly sorry if this affects your decision to attend these spaces, we are working hard to have Boundaries an access friendly event for all at future events.

THE MINSTER
The Minster is a stunning old building located right in the centre of the City and in the heart of all things Boundaries Fest.
The Minster is only 2 min walk from hotels and other venues, bars and cafes. While only 5 min walk from local train metro stations.

High Street West, Sunderland, SR1 3ET, England
poprecs
Poprecs is Sunderlands much loved community venue that has nothing but love and support for everyone and every idea.
The building is an old Binns clothing department store turned live venue after laying old and empty for many decades.
This location is a little bit out the way from the other venues as it is located about a 12min walk from The Minster and Premier Inn hotels. It is a very simple easy walk though, its basically one street all the way down to the location.
It is about a 8 min walk from train metro stations and there is parking next door.
Poprecs will only be used for the Friday night opening party.

THE PEACOCK
The Peacock has been with the fest right from the beginning and is a relatively new fixture to the Sunderland live gig scene, but it continues to go from strength to strength. This beautiful graded listed building is again like The Minster situated right in the middle of the fest location, 5 mins from hotels, other bars, cafes and the local metro station.
The wide upstairs live room is truly a fantastic sounding room to perform in and to experience, while the wide space means most of the audience can actually see the stage! T
The downstairs bar is a real spot for locals and drinkers to get cozy and relax too.

THE DUN COW
The Dun Cow Pub is one the oldest pubs in Sunderland when it was built in 1901. This cozy gem of a pub is drenched in character and is the perfect spot for that pre during post fest drink and relaxing.
The upstairs room is a very intimate space with limited capacity, so we advise you arrive early to guarantee a place. The Dun Cow serves all the drinks you’ll ever need whatever your tipple and whatever time!
Just like The Minster and The Peacock this pub is located centrally and again is only 5 mins walk from local hotels and the other nearby bars, restaurants, cafes and train stations.

sunderland
Sunderland is a great little City with a truly stunning beach running all the way up the beautiful North East coastline. If you're arriving early, staying later or waking up nice and bright,we highly recommend you try and get to Roker beach, next to the piers. There’s great coffee cafes, tasty fish and chips, yummy ice creams, lovely fresh walks and fresh swims if you’re brave, theres a few dolphins swimming about too!
Heading up to Seaburn beach which is about 5 mins from the Roker area, here you will find more restaurants, bars, cafes, amusements and glorious wide open beaches.
The coast is located approx a 5-8 min drive from the centre of town and a nice 25 min walk.
If you do decide to walk, we advise you walk the scenic route along the paths next to the River Wear.
Have a good one, we hope you have the best time!
